TH-U runs on any Mac with macOS 10.14 Mojave or newer, on both Intel and Apple Silicon machines. A Core i3, 4 GB of RAM and a 1280x800 display are the minimum. It shows up as a standalone application and as AudioUnit, VST, and AAX64 plug-ins for your DAW.

1. Do I Need the Modeling or the Capture Side?

You get both. The modeling engine covers amps, cabinets, and pedals, and it loads your old TH3 presets. The capture side lets you profile a physical rig and save it inside the plug-in. That means you can shape a tone from the modeled components, then drop a captured amp profile right next to it in a single session.

The cabinet module now runs on Fluid Convolution. Each cab supports up to four microphones and a dual IR loader. There's also a built-in converter for external guitar cabinet IRs, so you can bring your own library into the same window. The new SuperCabinet is part of this—more IR options without leaving the plug-in.

Scenes handle that. A single preset can store multiple model configurations, and you switch between them without reloading anything. Handy for tracking a clean verse into a driven chorus without juggling presets.

Drag-and-Drop IRs and Instant MIDI Mapping

The cabinet module accepts drag-and-drop IRs straight from Finder. No import dialog, no folder drilling. Grab a WAV, drop it on the IR slot, done. Right-click any knob to assign it to a MIDI controller instantly—no menu diving. The preset browser filters by amp type, effect category, and even by the guitar used during creation, so auditioning sounds for a single-coil versus a humbucker takes seconds.

Double-clicking a parameter returns it to its default value. Holding Shift while dragging a knob gives you fine control for dialing in subtle EQ moves or precise delay times. The built-in tuner mutes the signal chain when engaged, which saves you from adding a tuner block just to kill sound between takes. If you own TH3 presets, they load without conversion; TH-U reads them directly, so your old song sessions open with the tones intact.

SuperCabinet joins the cabinet module, which now runs on Fluid Convolution with a dual IR loader. The new Scenes feature lets a single preset recall entirely different model configurations. Also fixed: three new effects arrive—PHASE STONE, Reverse Delay, and ModulaVerb.
